Actually I started out as a map and train person at the age of 3. I didn't develop an interest in buses until about 15, but I still cared more about trains. Actually before the New Looks, I actually hated bus vehicles themselves because of all the shaking and diesel fumes. I guess during graduate school I developed a real interest in the bus routes. I saw a great need for something to be done. I was very fortunate that I was able to act on my dream early on.

Even today details about buses themselves bore me. I can't even keep track of bus models and numbers any more because it doesn't interest me. My prime interest now is how to make things better and not letting the MTA get away with BS. I don't think that qualifies me as a busfan. I did drive a bus once for 60 seconds at the second bus rodeo. It was Japanese test bus Hino 951. There is even a picture of me driving it floating around on the Internet which I saw 25 years later, but you can't see my face since a bus driver was leaning over showing me where the door control was when the photo was snapped. Probably one of you here took that picture. You were about 15 at the time in 1981.
