I once suggested to the MTA that they reopen the Bedford Avenue entrance/exit of the Nostrand Avenue Subway Station plus build two walkways on both the westbound and eastbound platforms one block west to Franklin Avenue/Fulton Street. In each walkway I suggested that they place movable walkways to connect Bedford Avenue with Franklin Avenue along Fulton Street so that "A" Express passengers would have direct access to the Franklin Avenue Shuttle without having to take/wait for the "C" local one stop. The Franklin Avenue local stop of the "C" Line could be eliminated under this plan. I also beleive that the Franklin Avenue Station was originally supposed to be called Classon Avenue since that is directly in the center of the Clinton-Washington Station and the Nostrand Avenue Station. This I beleive is why the tiles at the Franklin Avenue Station are a different shade of green than the Clinton-Washington Station and the Lafayette Avenue Station. The Classon Avenue entrance/exit was also sealed up by NYCT many years ago I beleive during the 1970's or 1980's |
