Likewise, I remember overhead barriers on select entrances to the Belt Parkway -- exit 4 (18 Av) rings a bell I think -- I'm not sure if they're still there, or if they were only there to be lowered if they wanted to close the parkway.Trying to bring this thread more on topic, I've seen buses, including MCIs, use the Belt (as well as the GCP) -- it doesn't seem to be an issue. But there are sections of the Belt they couldn't use even with permission I think such as Exit 9 (Sheepshead Bay) through Exit 11 (Flatbush) because of weight restrictions which is why I suppose even my fantasy express bus route: Rockaway - Marine Pkwy Bridge - non-stop via driver selection of routing, such as the Belt Pkwy, to Lower Manhattan, may not be such a good idea. |
