Today (actually starting last night) was Israeli Independence Day. Egged buses were used as security barricades on the main streets leading into the center of Jerusalem, which were all closed off to motorized traffic last night. Security guards monitored the areas to the side of the buses and at some barriers performed bag checks.

Along the (still inoperative) light rail tracks on Jaffa Road with the security visible on either side of the bus:

Then, today, the buses were displaying a special message on their headsign wishing riders a happy independence day, but whoever programmed the sign couldn't fit in the last letter of the greeting. Something similar happened for this past year's Yom Kippur reading (there was no special signage last year for Israeli Independence Day).
