Use to be that we sent buses out with no fareboxes only if the run was a short tripper. But this all changed when Mr Walder came on board.The story is he got on a Manhattanville bus downtown and when he tried to insert his ID into the farebox the operator not knowing who Mr Walder was yet told him its OK the farebox is down. Needless to say Mr Walder went into a fit and it was discovered that the operator failed to call the command center to inform them his farebox was out of service. So down came the edict, no buses leave the depot with bad fareboxes and if the farebox breaks down midtrip the bus remains in service but must be swapped immediately without disrupting our customers. In addition, when pulling out in the mornings B/O must log in and print out a transfer and give it to the yard dispatcher who in turn gives the stack to the g/s at the end of the day. |
