Buses without power steering were a pleasure to drive, even if you had to stand up a little to turn a sharp corner. They were great exercise buses and you didn't need to go to the gym to keep yourself in shape. Until they day they retired the last ones (Flx #434 and GMC #5549), I normally drove one, and my stomach remained pretty flat. After that, my belly started extending itself a bit. In my humble opinion, each garage should still have a few non-power steering buses for those who liked them (and quite a number of my fellow Bus Operators did!). |
