Get Real...Re: Terrapin Station is not feeling well in 2010. |

With all due respect, the points that Terrapin Station made are the thoughts of many people in society. There's a reason why people take trains and avoid buses. There's a reason why LRT spurs development and bus lines tend not to. There's a reason why homes near good rail service cost a heck of a lot more than homes that are far away from rail.We are horrendously biased on this board because, well, we happen to like buses. We happen to like the roar of the engine, the style, the bumps (who else in their right mind would ENJOY the fact that they are launched sky high while riding a MACK?), and more. However, many other people don't like them. I remember I was chatting with an avid railfan about Silverliner IVs and SEPTA stuff. I mentioned "El Dorados". He asked, "what's that?" I say, "a type of bus." His reply? "Ew." His point of view is shared by many, unfortunately. Fact of the matter is, in inclement weather, buses tend to be much less reliable than trains. Oh well, that's a fact of life. At the same time, if a train breaks down in, let's say, a tunnel or an el, its a bit less convenient to get off than a broken down bus. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, regardless how close to live to one mode or the other. Let's agree to disagree and stop these stupid threads about pwnage (that's so last decade ^_^) and talk about other stuff regarding transit! This really isn't a good way to start a new decade... |
