You would basically be reinstating the Bx12 as it once was before the creation of the Bx29 in the early 1990's which in itself, is not a bad idea. Having driven the Bx29 I can tell you that there isn't much ridership between City Island and Bay Plaza. One little glitch would be what type of equipment to run on the line. The Bx12 is almost exclusively the domain of articulated buses and that could get a little dicey on City Island especially when making the tight turn around at the end of the island. It wouldn't be impossible for the artic just a little tricky. You would also have to consider the delays caused by the raising of the draw bridge leading out to the island. |
