During the course of late Saturday afternoon, I rode NGs on the 30 from Co-op City to Montefiore; the 10 to 231st Street; and the 3 to 181st Street. There seem to be more O5s left at KB than GH at the moment; I saw several on the 3, 7 and 10- but only one on the 28.In any event, nothing was hurled at any buses. Evening may have been a different story. During the day, the trend seemed to be parents taking large groups of kids trick-or-treating to stores in commercial districts. This was the case at Bay Plaza; on Gun Hill between Jerome and Bainbridge; and by the 231st and 238th stations. Many merchants complied, but there was one terrified-looking nail salon purveyor protectively blocking her door. "No candy! No trick-or treat!" I can recall recent Halloweens that fell during the week when it was impossible to ride a bus in downtown Flushing without constantly hearing the banging of eggs hitting it. |
