Look at the money saved by doing that, it's old skool and it works. Loaded paddles into the radio system. Archaic, but effective. How many FB defect's result in no fare collection here, a lot. Subway station fare control results in easier boarding. We at MTA bus still have to fill out daycards with passenger counts per trip. When I worked at the Bee-line just accepted the transfer, before MetroCard, along w/ monthly flash passes. It's simple and easy IMO. The smartcard of farecard system IMO is for the transit agency to collect up front weather or not it's used, but you still have the same levels of fare evasion with or w/o out and encure the same or more loss amount involving the cost of collection media installation, maint. and infrastucture. I'm looking at it as a transit professional. With the current setup including the automated announcemnet and radio/bus tracking requires less supervison and less overhead. IMO the TTC knows how to take care of what it has even if it's over 20 years old. I've never saw a system that is so clean and reliable even w/ the rigors of a large metropolitan area. Toronto seems like Diet New York. Old, busy, big however clean and people are nicer IMO. |
