The answer is not fare zones. Too complicated. Have a seperate car or bus fleet called Express-A-Ride that charges extra for those who want to go DIRECT from Staten Island to Bronx or whereever without making 6, 7 or 8 pickups and dropoffs along the way. That would justify additional cost. But is a ride costs 50 bucks for the MTA to provide, even 7 dollars is a giveaway. |
