The point of the takeover was to reduce operating costs and improve service e.g actually running buses, not a blank check to the MTA. When the city's budget comes up they may withdraw the blank check for a coupon only redeemable by the MTA taking the fall for cutting service, not city politicians. BTW did I mention were lossing runs already, right now they are under the radar. Passengers havent noticed it because they have played w/ the headways, but the fact remains service cut have begun, just where will they stop? Also the union at my depot said that the MTA will layoff at MTABus. So if there are layoffs at MTABus in terms of Operating staff, by defaut doesn't cut service if there is no one to drive and fix buses. Don't speculate until you live it, OK. Sorry to be blunt, I wish you were right, but everything at work is in the direction of loss of service even complete closure of the depot. However if they do reduce service then that may allow them to give reliable service to keep the riders there, but my passengers have already told me they refuse to pay $7.50 and will use alternate means. It sucks. |
