Not correct.Aluminum wheels dissipate heat faster than steel wheels, so if MTA's buses were having pad issues, it wasn't due to the wheel material. All of NJT's Flxible Metro Bs/Ds, Nova RTSes, and Neoplan artics were delivered with and still have aluminum wheels - it's not only the MCIs. All of the NABIs will use them as well. NJT hasn't taken delivery of a bus with steel wheels in over 20 years. Private companies receiving state buses have the option to change to steel if they wish (Academy does this). |
