Pardon my ignorance, but what was so bad in New York in 1995 that necessitated all of those proposed cuts? I can't think of anything today that was a problem back in 1995 off the top of my head. The economy was rapidly growing, New York was rapidly rebounding as well, fuel was not an issue, and other things. Was it some type of issue with state funding? Maybe sales tax revenues had greatly fallen for some reason or another? |
