I actually don't mind the 2007 Phoenix D40LFs/D60LFs. IMHO, they're better and more comfortable than the 1998-2002 Phoenix NABI 40-LFW fleet. Would I have preferred Phoenix to get D40LFRs and D60LFRs with the USSC seats? Yes. Would it be worth $630,000 - $756,000 more ($5000 - $6000 per bus for 126 buses). Maybe. The Phoenix buses are generally used on higher ridership lines which are more prone to abuse (except for the 60, 80, 90, 106, 122, 138, 154, 170, 186) and I am sure that replacing/repairing the USSC seats is more expensive than replacing/repairing the present type of seat.I actually would have preferred Phoenix get DE40LFs and DE60LFs. The RPTA's newest buses (6597-6648) don't have the corrugated walls however (I actually prefer the corrugated walls to the smooth walls). |
