Posted by 167T on Sun Jul 6 00:15:58 2008 MAJOR CHANGES IN ORLANDO: THIS HAS BEEN COMING FOR AWHILE DO TO LACK, OR LOSS, OF STATE FUNDINGORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) -- Lynx service changes will take place August 17. Central Florida's mass transit system is consolidating routes in response to budget cuts. This is the first of a two-part realignment plan to save $2.5 by December. Public Workshops to discuss the December proposal will be July 15 and 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the LYNX Central Station Board Room. Routes which will be impacted are in Orange and Seminole counties. Below is a brief summary of changes: New Link 102: New service operating every 15 minutes during weekday peak periods between LYNX Central Station, Orange Avenue, Florida Hospital, Winter Park, Winter Park Village, and US 17-92 to Fern Park (near the intersection of US 17-92 and State Road 436). Link 102 replaces the southern half of Link 39, as well as portions of Link 1, 9, and 14. Link 103: New service replacing the northern portion of Link 39, traveling along US 17-92 between Fern Park (near the intersection of US 17-92 and State Road 436) and Seminole Center. Link 125: New Service proposed to follow the existing Link 25 route east from West Oaks Mall along Silver Star to Maury to Edgewater to Princeton into Florida Hospital. From Florida Hospital, Link 125 will use Mills Avenue to Robinson Street to Downtown Orlando. Link 443: New service connecting Winter Park Memorial Hospital to Park Promenade Plaza. Link 443 would follow Aloma and Osceola Avenues into Denning & Webster (Winter Park Village). Service would continue along Lee Road to Edgewater Drive to the Rosemont Super Stop, replacing portions of the former Link 23, and on to the Park Promenade Super Stop. Revised Links Link 1: Passengers may take the new Link 102 from Downtown Orlando to the Winter Park Village and transfer to the revised Link 1 to the Altamonte Mall. Link 2: Proposed elimination of service. Passengers can use the new Link 125 on Mills Avenue. Link 9: Passengers may take the proposed Link 102 from Downtown Orlando to Winter Park Village and transfer to the revised Link 9, which would retain service through Eatonville to Pine Hills Road and North Lane. Link 13: This service begins in Downtown Orlando, but is re-routed from Bumby Avenue and Corrine Drive to Woodcock Road, Lawton Road, Bennett Road, and Corrine Drive. Passengers along Bumby Drive can walk to alternative service on the new route of Link 13, to Mills Avenue to the new Link 125, or to Links 28, 29, and 30 on Colonial Drive Link 14: The proposal is to retain hourly service to Calvary Towers. Portions of eliminated service would be replaced in part by Links 102, and 125. Link 16: Proposed elimination of service with portions replaced by the new Link 125. Link 20: Regular Routing from Downtown Orlando to the Washington Shores Superstop. Regular Route to Silver Star Road. Right on Silver Star Road to John Young Parkway/Princeton Street/Mercy Drive back to Downtown Orlando. Passengers whose destination is west on Silver Star Road may transfer to the new Link 125 to the Park Promenade Shopping Center. Link 23: Service remains the same between Springs Village Shopping Center, Rosemont Super Stop, and then follows Edgewater Drive to Fairbanks Avenue to Denning Drive. This Link will end at the Winter Park Village. Passengers may transfer to the new Link 102 for Downtown Orlando service. Passengers whose destination is Lee Road may transfer to the new Link 443 at the Winter Park Village. Link 25: . Regular routing from Downtown Orlando to Silver Star Road, right on Shader Road, right on John Young Parkway, right on Silver Star Road, left on Mercy Drive, regular route to Downtown. Operate every 30 minutes on weekday peak periods, as opposed to every 20 minutes currently. Passengers whose destination is west on Silver Star Road may transfer to the new Link 125 to the Park Promenade Shopping Center. Link 39: Southern portion of Link 39 from Downtown Orlando to Fern Park will become Link 102 while serving portions of the former Link 1, 9, and 14. Northern portion of Link 39 from Fern Park to the Seminole Center will become Link 103. Link 48: Regular routing from Downtown Orlando and revised to operate along Powers Drive both to and from the Park Promenade Super Stop. Passengers along Hiawassee Road, Willowwood Street, Bramblewood Drive, and Balboa Drive should use Link 37 on Hiawassee Road. Link 49: Regular routing from Downtown Orlando, on Indian Hills Road, Powers Drive, and North Lane ending at the Silver Hills Center. Link 49 would no longer operate along Balboa and Hastings. Passengers in that area should use Link 48 on Powers Dr or Link 49 on Pine Hills Rd. |
