The 'lean' on a double-decker is not fierce. The only time you would be aware of it is when there's a full load of passengers upstairs, the reason for this being that all the heavy stuff (i.e. engine and such) is at the bottom. It is quite normal to corner in one at the same rate you would in a normal bus. As someone else has pointed out, there are stringent roll-over tests for double-deckers before they are certified for use in Britain (at least).

There is a famous picture of a London Routemaster on London Transport's tilt-tester where the bus is almost at the 10 o'clock position and supported by nothing.
